Leadership remains to be one of the vital cornerstones of education.ย  Its significance no doubt traverses every part of the national development thus, the need to develop leadership skills and values to the students who are considered to be the hope of our nation.

The important role of leadership in nation building had long been acknowledged by the Department of Education through the Supreme Student Government and the development of myriad school-based organization such as the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization, Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD), School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (SDRRMC) and We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty (WATCH) Club; all of which are bounded to the same goal: to develop future leaders with knowledge, skills and values.

With this, Leandro G. Japos National High School organized TAKE THE LEAD: ECO-LEADERSHIP CAMP FOR STUDENT-LEADERS that shall address the mandated projects of the Supreme Student Government pursuant to the DepEd Order No. 43, s.ย  2005 which are as follows: (1) Leadership and Capacity-building Training, (2) Environment Awareness and Campaigns, (3) Peer Counseling and Values Formation Activities, and (4) Disaster Mitigation Programs. These themes are deliberately included to achieve an end goal which is to holistically empower the students to be effective and efficient leaders in the future.
