DepEd NCR Champions Gender Equity Through Policy and Data-Driven Training
From August 7 to 9, 2025, the Department of Education National Capital Region (DepEd NCR), through the Human Resource and Development Division–National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), conducted a three-day training workshop on GAD Policy and Data Analysis. The event brought together Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Persons and selected GAD champions from all 16 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) across NCR.
Anchored in Key Policies
The workshop was grounded in the principles of RA No. 9710 (Magna Carta of Women), DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2017 (Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy), and the Basic Education Development Plan (DepEd Order No. 24, s. 2022). Its primary objective was to enhance participants' capacity in policy analysis and improve data capture mechanisms through disaggregation and gender analysis.
Empowering Through Evidence and Insight
During the workshop, participants critically examined the provisions of the Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy, culminating in the development of policy issue papers and recommendations. A key component of the workshop involved analyzing the results of the DepEd NCR GAD Focal Point System Training Needs Assessment, which will inform the region's capacity-building roadmap for 2025-2027.
Strategic Goals and Lasting Impact
This initiative reinforces DepEd NCR's commitment to fostering inclusive and responsive education systems. By equipping educators and leaders with analytical tools and policy frameworks, the region aims to strengthen the GAD Focal Point System and ensure the effective implementation of GAD programs in schools.
This milestone activity not only builds technical capacity but also affirms DepEd NCR's leadership in championing gender-responsive education, where every learner, regardless of gender, is empowered to thrive.
