READING
Text To Speech
Chromebook Accessibility- Chrome has two options for text to speech screen reader or Select-to-speak- built into your computer.
MAC or PC- There are accessibility options built into your computer.
iPad/iPhone Accessibility- Text to Speech options that are available to read anything on your ipad. Voice Over is another option.
LibriVox -”Acoustical liberation of books in the public domain” Audiobooks by human reader, just audio - no visual
Bookshare ** Requires additional documentation of dx for specific students
OverDrive Media Console (public/school library)- OverDrive is the service behind the majority of libraries that offer ebooks and audiobooks.You can find detailed instructions on DCL’s website. OverDrive titles that are compatible with an iOS device can be read using the OverDrive app.
ATbar - Extension with features to read items using text to speech
RazKids- Raz-Plus leveled resources, teaching materials, and student portal address all your instructional needs. This includes some free AT accommodations. All K-4 teachers have access to this program in DCSD.

Online reading options that adjust readability
TLDR This (Too Long Didn’t Read) Shortens long articles and provides a summary of reading material without leaving the original page.
Reader View extension- Removes clutter on the page and changes page test size.
Students may be affected by differences in fonts/needs color overlays
Change/play with different fonts - study on fonts by U of M
Dyslexia Friendly- Increases readability of websites by changing to easier-to-read fonts and adding visual enhancements
Open-Dyslexic - Extension created to increase readability on web pages for readers with dyslexia
ATbar - Extension with features to increase readability, including changing the color overlay of web pages
BeeLineReader - Extension that uses a color gradient to help guide eyes from the end of one line to another

Switch Controlled Reading Options
TarHeel Reader, you can have switch advance pages, also can have the computer read to you. Click on the cog/wheel and then choose speech and the voice you’d like
Tumblebooks, Douglas County Libraries > Digital Media > Tumblebooks. Select book, change to “Manual”. Place cursor on the forward button for switch access

Speech Recognition Guide- Writing with speech recognition is a cognitive process different from handwriting or typing. Students require the integration of a different set of skills. Typing Club: Online typing tutor. Lessons follow the Orton Gillingham method of typing instruction. Instant feedback allows students to self-correct.

Math Tools - A spreadsheet created by Tiffanie Zaugg of many online iOs, Chrome and low tech tools you can use for math instruction.
