Assistive Technology Specialist

Michelle has been a pediatric speech-language pathologist for 25 years, working in a variety of settings. She attended the University of South Dakota for her bachelors and masters degrees. She then moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area and worked in the schools, early intervention, hospital, and outpatient therapy settings. She became a deaf-hard of hearing and cochlear implant specialist there. After a move to the Denver area, she continued her work with the DHH and CI populations, as well as early intervention and outpatient therapy work at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She joined Douglas County School District in 2019 and and after working as a preschool SLP for five years, is now enjoying her role as an AT specialist on the SWAAAC team. She loves working with school teams and students of all abilities to help problem-solve assistive technology needs. Areas of interests and expertise include using technology to help develop literacy skills as well as providing AT trainings. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys being a “baseball mom”, hiking, and yoga.
