Does the student:
1) Identify most of the letters in the alphabet most of the time?
3) Use of symbolic means of communication and interaction?
If all 4 questions are YES, proceed to conventional interventions
Literacy Rubric- Are your students emergent or conventional?
If No, use the following interventions
Shared Reading
Shared Writing
Alphabetic knowledge and Phonological Awareness
Independent writing with access to the full alphabet
Self Directed Readng
2) Shows interest and engagment during shared reading without external rewards?
4) Understands that print has meaning?
If one or more NO, start with emergent interventions
If Yes, use the following interventions
Reading Comprehensive
Word Study
Writing
Self-directed Reading
