This is a coming of age story set in a small Irish town. The town is about to get electricity, and the young boy in the story wonders if he will live a life that is bright enough and big enough to hold all of his feelings and emotions. He meets a colorful character who is in town to work for the electric company, and the story of their intersecting lives, and all the emotion that goes into human growth, makes for a beautiful story. It also ends up being a novel about the invisible forces that animate our lives, whether hope, love, or electricity. The writing is fabulous!

It's an ode to the power of relationships, the beauty of the world, and our ability to transcend through community.
