Many many years ago I was preparing for a trip and visited a bookstore to choose something to take with me to read. I wanted the thickest book I could find. At over 1400 pages this title fit the bill. I can't tell you how pleased I was with the selection. The author Anna Lee Waldo spent many years researching and writing this book. Even though it is a historical fiction novel it is packed with factual information. It is a book full of action, adventure, and emotion. I cried several times reading about the events Sacajawea endured. The book is a journey on the Lewis and Clark Expedition with a very different perspective because it is told from Sacajawea's viewpoint. She was certainly a woman ahead of her time. I was amazed with the courage and fortitude that she had. I had always been curious about the Lewis and Clark Expedition and thought it would be exciting to follow along the trail. Thinking about this book has rekindled that desire.
