This a story about choices. The main character, Nora, visits a fantastical place between life and death called "The Midnight Library." It contains shelves full of books with different versions and volumes of her life that she chooses from to relive her experiences. Through these various time travel adventures, Nora learns to better understand her life's path and her choices along the way that led her to where she is in the present.
This is a timely book to read after living through a pandemic and wanting to reclaim the life we once had or wish we had. It is a book about choices, and ultimately about regret; the takeaway messages are optimistic though: we shouldn't dwell on or regret our difficult situations, but rather learn from them and even appreciate them as we look ahead to the future and live each day more deliberately.
