(Young Adult) This is a story about 3 teens who are fleeing Guatemala for the US. It was eye-opening and timely given the current border issues/crisis. For me, it humanized the situation and gave me a greater awareness about the reasons why families or individuals literally risk their lives and leave behind everything for the opportunity to live in a safe country. It also made me consider how we are supporting these families in our communities as neighbors, and of course as educators.
