As one would expect in a school system, the upkeep of equipment, buildings, and grounds is a monumental task. More than 3,500 requests for repairs, renovations, and transportation are received by Facilities Management each year.
Because we are a rapidly growing district spread out over several campuses, it is important that we establish a centralized reporting procedure not only for repairs that need emergency attention but also for all services requested by the Facilities Management staff. Often the request must be scheduled so the instructional program is not interrupted. The requests are handled according to urgency. Prompt and systematic reporting is important for Facilities Management personnel to effectively and efficiently respond to the many varied requests.
The Facilities Maintenance staff is dedicated to keeping the physical structures and grounds of the district well maintained. Facilities Maintenance exists to serve each student, faculty, and staff member, and provide a safe, comfortable, functional environment within financial and regulatory constraints. As a service organization, we are involved at many levels, from adding a little extra luster to a floor to the complete construction of a storage building and keeping all systems operating efficiently.
All maintenance requests are addressed at the time they are received. Each is assigned a priority (emergency, urgent, or routine) based on the effect of life safety and continuance of academic study. Urgent requests are emailed directly to maintenance personnel from the facility requesting services and are usually completed within five workdays. Larger, more routine work requests are handled as scheduled work orders.
