☃️ INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION ❄️
The safety of students and staff is our utmost priority.
We do not take weather safety concerns lightly and consider all areas in the district, as well as all travel scenarios, when closely monitoring weather and travel conditions.
As such, Davie County Schools may make the decision to close early, to delay, or to cancel school when weather makes driving conditions hazardous or temperatures are too cold to properly operate bus equipment. We will make every reasonable effort to make announcements by 5:30 a.m. If a decision can be made in the evening, we will do so. If an announcement is made, it is applicable to those students and staff scheduled to report that day. If no announcement is made, schools will operate on a normal schedule.
Our primary means of communication to staff and families will be through the following avenues, and in this order:
Infinite Campus Messenger via email, text and phone calls. Please make sure your contact information is kept up-to-date in Infinite Campus!
Social Media - Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn. Be sure to follow our social media accounts for updated information.
Website - A prominent banner will be placed on the front page of godavie.org
We will communicate closings, delays, and early dismissals as quickly as possible. For staff, we will also mention Plan, A, B, or C options for the day.
If school is closed but it is deemed an Optional Workday, employees who choose to come to school/work are expected to work a full day. If the Superintendent deems that it is unsafe to stay at school/work for the entire day and announces an early dismissal, any employee who has worked up until that time will be compensated for the entire day/shift. Any employee who chooses not to come to school/work on an optional workday will be expected to either use an annual leave day or make up time at the discretion of their supervisor. If employees do not make up either 1/2 day or the entire day by a date determined by their supervisor, they will be charged an annual leave day or be given a day without pay. When making up time, employees should complete a “Make Up Time Sheet” and submit it to their school/financial secretary or payroll department. Make-up time should not be logged in Timekeeper.
