Pictures/Work of Game Design Club ...

Members of the DHS Game Design Club participated in the Global Game Jam this past weekend. They were the only high school students to join 36 game developers from industry and area colleges at the Ferguson Library in Stamford. The theme of the Jam was “Repair” and the game they developed is called “Error: title not found.” The game is about fixing a poorly coded and incomplete video game.

It starts with a very confused sprite known as “name” who doesn’t know its name, where it is or what’s going on. As the game advances, the sprite fixes the game, destroys bugs and finally learns its true name. The game aims to teach basic computer science concepts with a fun 2D puzzle. Stephen K, John Khachian and Toby Cowles were onsite developing their game using the GDevelop game engine from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Sarah Shabet participated through their Slack workspace and provided the artwork electronically

Their game tied for Best in Show at the award ceremony held at the Stamford site.

All the thousands of games, including theirs, developed this weekend around the world were uploaded and can be played at the Global Game Jam website.
