AP Computer Science A
2 Semesters - 10, 11, & 12th Graders
Expectations: Students will be expected to critical think and problem solve individually and as a group member in order to complete extensive computer programming labs, frequent homework assignments including practice AP problems, and research to present about various topics. As with any other AP course, a great deal of responsibility is placed on the student. There will be tests including free response that will help students prepare for the AP exam which all students are expected to take.

Type: Elective - Fulfills Fine Arts Requirement
Prerequisite: Computer Science with a grade of B+ or higher, or successful completion of the qualifications exam.
Course Objectives:
To design and implement computer based solution to a variety of problems.
To design and select appropriate algorithms and data structures, which are applied to the solution of a problem.
To identify and apply well-known algorithms and data structures.
To read and understand the design and development of a large program, as well as its resulting code.
To code fluently in a well-structured high level language.
To develop an awareness of the social, ethical, and professional aspects of computer technology.
Description: This course is intended to serve as an introductory course for Computer Science majors, a substantial course for students who will major in other disciplines that require significant involvement with computing, or for individuals with a high level of interest in Computer Science. Students will have the option of preparing for the AP Computer Science exam.

arrange to see me during your "frees" or before school.
