Let's take a look at the faces behind the scenes of The Scroll and the team that makes your Scrolling experience so grand and memorable!
The Scroll President, Chief Digital Editor, & Writer
Welcome, Scrollians. My name is Milan, and I'm the general-chaos controller of The Scroll. I'm in charge of everything from formatting entire issues to editing. This is my fourth year on The Scroll (back when it was still printed), and my third year as its president. I'm also an officer of three other clubs, maintain a job, am a chronic extrovert, and have multiple AP classes-- so you can imagine I like to keep pretty busy! On my rare days off, you can find me watching trashy reality-TV and serenading my cats with Dolly Parton songs. Out of all the things I do, writing is near and dear to me so I'm grateful to be leading such a flourishing community!
I'm so proud of the team I'm leading and am in awe of all the amazing student-voices The Scroll gets to provide a platform for. I hope anyone reading this can find some joy in the content The Scroll team creates. Thank you for taking the time to support us!
The Scroll Vice President & Community Events/Satirical Writer
Hey, funky Scroll readers! I’m Sean, and I’m a senior here at GPHS. I have been rolling with The Scroll club since my sophomore year, existing as an absolute menace to my co-club members. I’m loud, unbearable, bubbly, but most importantly, loveable. This may be due to my constant involvement with theatre at the high school and within the community (if you get to know me, you’ll soon realize that takes up most of my personality). Despite my inane antics, I’d say I’m extremely driven. I’ve completed multiple AP courses so far, juggled my involvement in three theatre productions at the same time, excelled in choir-- all while looking absolutely stunning in the process.
If you feel the courage and need to talk or get ahold of me, my most direct form of communication is s.glover@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
I hope you all find yourselves in a fun, comfortable environment and enjoy your time here perusing The Scroll. :)
The Scroll Secretary & Treasurer, Journalist, Silent Genius
Howdy, lovely Scrollians! My name is Shani Grounds, and I am the silent genius behind The Scroll school newspaper (or at least I would like to think so). I love to quietly edit and format The Scroll’s upcoming issue at the end of every month to alleviate much of the stress off of other members’ shoulders. I also write pretty much anything I want for The Scroll, so please enjoy my large variety of works. I now hold two officer positions, and The Scroll family makes me feel like a valuable asset to the team. For that, I will be forever grateful to have been a part of this amazing group!
As a senior at GPHS, I am also a part of extracurriculars other than The Scroll. I am currently in the National Honor Society and I volunteer at our local food bank, the Josephine County Food Bank. I also work during the summer at Hellgate Jetboat Excursions. I used to be a part of Dance & Guard at GPHS, but COVID hit and I could not uphold my involvement in it anymore.
The Scroll Public Relations Director
Hey, beautiful people! My name is Deenie. Weird name, I know, but it's kind of cool. You may or may not know me, but I am currently a Junior at Grants Pass High School and a writer here at The Scroll. Also, your new friend, if you wanna be.
If you are a recurring reader, then you have definitely seen my name around. I write articles and interview people for our monthly mental health column and I also take on other projects, here and there.
I am pretty involved in the school, being part of 5 other clubs and an officer of 3, but being part of The Scroll has allowed me to come out of my comfort zone. I have been able to start being myself while doing things I love and I really adore being part of this team.
I love talking to people and understanding what makes them, them. If you need/want to contact me or talk to me about my dinosaur obsession, my email is p.bulyalert@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
Stay kind, you’re amazing, and have fun reading :)
The Scroll Social Media Representative & Journalist
Hey, Scroll readers!
I’m Liv, and I’ve been writing for The Scroll since the launch of the digital edition. I’m a senior here at GPHS, and I write articles on topics that I think are important (band, politics, current events, etc.). I also run the Creative Corner, sometimes contribute book reviews, and I am the Social Media Director for our Instagram page (@gphscroll). Hope to interact with you guys there!
You can contact me at o.akers@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us. Thanks for reading!
Current Events Writer
Hey Scroll readers! I’m Pooja Patel, a senior here at Grants Pass High School. Many of you may know me from Leadership, National Honors Society, HOSA, or as your ASB secretary.
I am a political writer who covers many controversial issues that are important to be discussed in our community. This is my second year being part of this club, and I had a very fun time. I have stepped out of my comfort zone to bring different types of content to you, so I hope you enjoy reading the articles. I also run the Good News column where I bring you various moments of happiness from around the world.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to contact me through my email, p.patel@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
Psychology Journalist & Podcaster
Hey y'all! I'm Allison Robinson, a senior here at Grants Pass High School. I am a psychology journalist, a co-writer for the podcast Table Talk, and a copy editor for The Scroll. I am so excited to work for The Scroll this school year, as I love the team and the work. I feel like through The Scroll I have been able to explore different avenues for career options in both psychology and journalism, which is super important for a senior! Check out my psychology column and our podcast Table Talk. If you have any subject or event that you would be interested in learning about, then feel free to let me know at a.robinson1@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us.
Y'all are the best! Thanks for reading :)
Photojournalist & Journalist
Hi, peeps! My name is Teagan, and I am a sophomore here at Grants Pass High School. I am a photojournalist, informative and environmental writer for The Scroll. This is my second year of being part of Journalism: The Scroll. I've always had a passion for writing from a young age, which still applies.
Check out our articles each month and give feedback. We have an astonishing Scroll team here at GPHS, and I recommend joining us to make more great articles. If you would like to contact me, my email is @t.mcnamara@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
Thank you for supporting and reading The Scroll, and I hope you enjoy =)
Writer
Hello there! My name is Hailie Zintzun, and I am a sophomore here at Grants Pass High School. I greatly enjoy writing, and am glad I have the opportunity to share my passion by being a journalist for The Scroll. I like to write about whatever interests me, so you’ll see a little bit of everything in my articles. Another thing I enjoy is music. I have been in orchestra since fourth grade, and don’t plan on quitting anytime soon. In my free time, I like to play the violin, get caught up in a good book, and rewatch all the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies. But my favorite thing of all is spending time with those I care for. If there is one piece of advice I can give, it is never to underestimate the power of literature!
Photojournalist
My name is Christofer Miramontes, and I'm a 12th grader and one of the photographers for The Scroll.
I enjoy taking pictures of scenery and people, and I am also involved in the marching band here at GPHS, playing the Quads. If I'm not doing much in a day, I'll either attempt to catch up on homework or play video games. I mostly want to be a photographer after high school to capture landscape and possible wedding pictures.
Journalist
Hey guys! My name is Abigail Woody. I am a journalist, and I write surveys for The Scroll.
I enjoy getting feedback from all of you guys through surveys. I like to write about real world problems because they intrigue me. I currently have a job, so I'm always busy between school and work. When I do have free time, I like to relax as much as possible. I always try to make time for my friends because I find it important to spend as much time with people who you care about. I do enjoy binge watching cringey shows and movies just to get a good laugh, but sometimes I turn it off because I get second hand embarrassment. If I had one word of advice for you, I would say to live life to the fullest because you never want to look back on something and regret not doing it.
You can always email me if you have ideas for survey or a real world problems article. I would love to hear your guys input. If you would like to put in an input on either of those things, then my email is a.woody@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us .
Hi! My name is Evan Tucker and I’m a senior here at Grants Pass High School. I love to write about politics and history for The Scroll. I think it’s important for people to stay up to date with our country’s political climate and history. Writing about topics people are scared to talk about has never stopped me. I believe writing helps bring about ideas that can help change the world. Outside of The Scroll, I’m involved in Leadership, Theater, Cross Country, and Track & Field. Next year, I will be majoring in political science at the University of Oregon.
If you have a topic you’d like me to address, or any other comments or concerns, feel free to reach me at my email address, e.tucker@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us.
Journalist and 5 star comedian
Hello beautiful people!! My name is Aylah Graves and I am a journalist for the Scroll. I have been working and writing with this amazing team for 2 years now. I write about several different things from politics to psychology to true crime and I have a monthly column called "Teacher Feature" where I recognize and appreciate the wonderful teachers and staff at GPHS.
Outside of Scroll I am involved in National Honor Society and Leadership. I got into journalism because I think it is important for people to use their voices and words to express their ideas, opinions and beliefs and the Scroll provides an accepting platform to do so.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to contact me through my email, a.graves1@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
Creative Writer
Hello, noble readers! My name is Nathaniel. I’m a sophomore, and this is my first year writing for The Scroll. Although I just recently joined, I hope that you’ll see much more of my writing. I mostly do short stories, but I’ll probably try doing some informative articles, too. When I’m not reading or writing, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy playing the viola and the piano. I regularly annoy my friends with crazy ideas, and if you ask any of them, they'll agree.
I hope that you enjoy my writing, and if you have any ideas for short stories or questions, you can email me at n.lee@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
Have a glorious day.
Journalist
Hey there! I’m Averie Black, and I am a freshman at GP. I have been obsessed with writing ever since I read Percy Jackson in third grade, so I became a journalist for The Scroll! I specialize in random articles so you'll see me pop up everywhere. When I’m not at school, tennis practice, or watching mindless YouTube videos, I enjoy creative writing and aggressively manifesting on the floor surrounded by crystals.
The Scroll has such a good community and offers so many opportunities I wouldn't have had otherwise. If you have any suggestions or just want to talk hit me up at a.black@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us
Happy reading :D
Photographer and Journalist
Hey, everyone! My name is Amber, and I am a photographer and writer as well as next year's secretary for The Scroll! This is my first year being in The Scroll, and honestly, joining was the best decision I've made. I am also in two other clubs here at GPHS as well. Outside of school, I volunteer at the Barnstormers Theater and, when I'm not busy with school or theater, you can find me playing the guitar and piano, or the occasional violin, playing games, or essentially anything creative, and you'll probably catch me with a new hair color every few months or so, as I am extremely indecisive.
I love working for The Scroll and I absolutely love everyone on this wonderful team, and I hope that you all enjoy reading and enjoying the hard work that goes into every issue. If you need to contact me for any reason or just wanna chat, my email is a.medinam@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us :)
Have a wonderful day and enjoy reading!! <3
Journalist and Self-Appointed Sarcasm Expert
Hello to all! My name is Haddix Blackmon, and I am a freshman here at Grants Pass High School. I just began writing for The Scroll as of this year. I've always loved reading, writing, and being as sarcastic as I can be. I tend to write satire articles, but you may find me popping around in other areas of The Scroll. I'm also fairly involved in the theater department so, if I'm not writing my next article, I'm at rehearsal for another show. When I'm not piled up with things to do, you can find me reading as much fiction as I can, listening to my music, and creating dumb videos on TikTok.
I love all of these weirdos I get to hang out with, and I love the community that makes The Scroll. If you have any suggestions or just want to chat about something, you can contact me at h.blackmon1@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us, although I am very bad at responding to emails lol.
Have fun reading!
- Haddix Blackmon <3
Journalist
Hello, and welcome or welcome back to The Scroll ! My name is Lily Loukx N and I do a little bit of everything here in The Scroll world. I dabble in projects and different articles I'm passionate about but, overall, I would consider myself a journalist. I’m a Junior at Grants Pass High School but, shockingly, have only been a part of The Scroll for a couple months now. In my free time, I usually work or drive around jamming music with my friends, causing chaos. In my downtime, I enjoy playing with my dogs or lovingly harassing my kitties. I joined The Scroll because I always would write little stories on my dad's laptop when I was little, so I always had a spark for writing. My Grandma had an old typewriter and she gave it to me, I would be in my room typing away writing stories. I always thought journalism was a special group but never thought I would have the chance to be a part of it.
Since I joined The Scroll, I have felt included and happy with the environment that Milan Guerin ( The Scroll president), Sean Glover (The Scroll Vice President) and Mrs. Jenny Tyrrell (The Scroll advisor) have made in this community. I look forward to learning and growing with the great team we will have next year. And... no... they didn't make me say that.
Journalist
Hello, fellow Scroll readers! I am Madison Heth, a journalist here at The Scroll. This is my first year writing for The Scroll and I have quickly found a love for it! I am an all-around writer, from factual and opinion articles to photojournalism and political cartoons. I am currently a sophomore here at Grants Pass High School. My passions are ballet, theater and horses. I am super excited to be a part of The Scroll team!
If you are interested in contacting me, my email is @m.heth@d7apps.gp.k12.or.us Thanks for reading!
Opinion Writer
Why, hello, Scroll readers! I hope you are having a fantabulous day. If you somehow missed that big writing above, my name is Lily Elfrink and I am a freshman here at GPHS. I joined The Scroll towards the beginning of the year, but I only started writing more recently, and have since been annoying Tyrrell by writing articles that could either go under Opinion or Satire. What can I say? Why make it easy when you can.. well... not?
I have been reading and writing since I was a wee lass, so I was happy to find such an amazing and welcoming environment for an aspiring young writer-lady-person such as myself. I love being a part of such a talented community of writers, and I am excited to continue writing in my sophomore year. Except also not because I will miss all of our beloved seniors dearly.
I hope you enjoy reading The Scroll! Or else! Haha just kidding. Kind of!
