Who Is the Best Spider-man?

In this article, Kayla Newman watches Spider-man, The Amazing Spider-man, and Spider-man: Homecoming, to figure out what actors Spider-man is the best.

And the Best Spider-man Is...

In 20 years, eight movies have been released that center around the arachnid-themed hero: Spider-man. Out of the three actors who have played this hero, Tom Holland is the best. To prove this, each Spider-man will be judged on a scale from one (being the lowest) to ten (being the highest) in four categories: how they portray a teen, movie originality, suits, and powers.

Sam Raimi directed Spider-man he was given a budget of 139 million dollars. It was released on May 3, 2002, and according to the Box Office, it had a 493% profit (825 million dollars). First off, Tobey Maguire does not pull off a high school student very well. If anything, he looks like a thirty-year-old trying to still act like a teen. Due to this, Tobey Maguire receives a one in the first category. Next up is movie originality he gets an eight. Besides a few overdone cliches, the movie was pretty all right. The rating for Maguire's suit is seven. For someone struggling with money, a suit like his would be hard to pull off. Finally, his powers get a ten. Out of the three Spider-men, he is the only one who does not need web-shooters.

The Amazing Spider-man was given a budget of 230 million dollars and was directed by Marc Webb. On July 12, 2012, the movie was released. The Box Office shows that it had a 229% profit (758 million dollars). Andrew Garfield pulls off a teen much better than Maguire but looks way too old. Due to that, he gets an eight. Movie originality receives a nine. It does not have as many cliches as the first movie, but it follows how the first movie went, only this time he had a different villain, and his friend wasn't Harry Osborn. Next up is Garfield's suit. In this category, he gets an eight. The movie shows where his inspiration came from to him making his web-shooters and researching and making his final suit, but, once again, how he receives the funding to make it is a little wonky. Last but not least, powers. In this category, he gets a nine. He is shown to be an extremely agile, strong, and sticky person after his bite. The only thing taking it down a point is Garfield’s webs. Unlike Maguire’s Spider-man, Andrew has to make his web-shooters.

Spider-man: Homecoming was directed by Jon Watts and was released on July 7, 2017. The movie was given a budget of 175 million dollars with a 402% profit(880 million dollars). Starting this off strong, movie originality gets a ten. Unlike the first two, this one does not follow Spider-man’s origin story or has any noticeable cliches. Tom Holland can pull off a teen very well due to him being 20 when filming started. Due to this, he gets a ten. Next up is his suit. In this category, he also gets a ten. It is an extraordinary suit with a lot of different settings and cool trinkets within it. Tony Stark, ends up giving the suit to the web-slinging hero, which makes more sense than the other two suits. Finally, the last category is powers. In the movie, Tom Holland’s Spider-man has the same abilities as Garfield’s. So he gets a nine in this category

After watching and analyzing over six hours' worth of movies, it is clear that Tom Holland is the superior wall-crawling superhero. The three different series are all incredible in their unique ways, whether it be the actors involved, love interests, or villains, you get the idea. Tom Holland’s Spider-man will always be the best in my opinion.
