The Extension Services Office and the Department of Industrial and Information Technology of Cavite State University (CvSU) – Carmona Campus proudly introduced the training program entitled “TechSHOW: Building Engaging and Impactful Presentations”, as part of the CvSUCCESS TO-SERVE Project. Scheduled on May 9 and 16, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, this two-day workshop is designed to develop participants’ presentation skills through immersive, hands-on learning focused on the use of modern digital tools.
The training commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Jhumel C. Ignas, project leader of TO-SERVE and extension coordinator of the Department of Industrial and Information Technology (DIIT). He emphasized the growing need for digital communication skills in today’s professional landscape and highlighted CvSU-Carmona’s commitment to community development through capacity-building initiatives.
Before diving into the technical discussions, pre-assessments were administered to gauge participants’ existing knowledge and comfort level with digital presentation tools. This helped facilitators tailor the approach and provide appropriate guidance throughout the training.
The first session, delivered by Mr. Alonel A. Hugo, faculty extensionist and extension coordinator-alternate of DIIT, introduced participants to an overview of presentation software, setting a strong foundation for the succeeding modules. The training continued with practical topics on adding and formatting text, images, and basic shapes, as well as applying themes and slide layouts—skills essential for crafting visually appealing and effective presentation materials.
With a focus on hands-on learning and guided practice, participants were given ample opportunity to apply what they learned in real-time, helping them build both competence and confidence in delivering their own presentations.
To evaluate learning outcomes, post-assessments were conducted. The results reflected a significant improvement in participants’ skills and confidence in using digital presentation tools. These assessments also served as a feedback mechanism, allowing facilitators to address remaining questions and reinforce key concepts.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Regene G. Hernandez, chairperson of DIIT, who praised the participants’ enthusiasm and expressed gratitude for their active participation. Certificates were awarded in recognition of their dedication and newly acquired competencies.
Special recognition is extended to the unmentioned faculty extensionists whose contributions were instrumental to the success of the initiative. These include Mr. John Benneth C. Abuan, Ms. Minveluz Ramirez, Mr. Marvin D. Dalisay, Dr. Mark Anthony R. Abril, and Ms. Jannie B. Bacosmo. This undertaking was also made possible through the valuable assistance of student extensionists from the BS Computer Engineering program, namely Ms. Larrah Jane Manzo, Mr. John Benedict Tabor, and Mr. Keanu Estefano Librando.
