The Extension Services Office and the Department of Industrial and Information Technology of Cavite State University (CvSU) – Carmona Campus, in collaboration with the City Government of Carmona, successfully launched the first session of the TechDOC: Crafting Documents for Practical Needs on March 21, 2025, under CvSUCCESS’ TO-SERVE (Technical Opportunities to Support, Empower, and Value the Community) Project.
Mr. Jhumel C. Ignas, project leader of TO-SERVE and department extension coordinator, formally opened the session with his inspiring remarks, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in today’s fast-evolving world.
The training commenced with a pre-assessment, setting the foundation for the participants' learning journey. Asst. Prof. Rochelle C. Malabayabas, project staff of TO-SERVE, introduced the first topic, providing an overview of word processing software, including its uses, well-known applications, and essential components. A Q&A session followed, allowing participants to clarify their queries before a short health break.
The morning session continued with an in-depth discussion on formatting text and paragraphs, where participants learned how to modify font styles, sizes, and colors, apply bold, italics, and underline features, and adjust text alignment and indentation. Asst. Prof. Malabayabas demonstrated practical applications, ensuring attendees gained hands-on experience before breaking for lunch.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to page layout basics, where attendees explored document margins, orientation, sizes, headers, footers, columns, backgrounds, and borders. The interactive session provided a comprehensive understanding of document structuring, essential for creating professional and well-organized content. Another Q&A session allowed participants to engage further and clarify any uncertainties before a short health break.
The day concluded with a post-assessment to gauge participants' learning progress, followed by the awarding of certificates, acknowledging their successful completion of the training. Dr. Regene G. Hernandez, department chairperson, delivered the closing remarks, highlighting the impact of digital literacy on personal and professional development.
