Project AKKaP (Akbayan ang Kapwa at Komunidad tungo sa Pag-unlad) aims to equip the community members’ competency, skill, or knowledge in people empowerment, cultural preservation, and environmental education to improve the overall quality of their life, be aware of environmental problems, and practice waste segregation.

Cavite State University – Carmona Campus successfully held the fifth installment of “PowerUp: Basic Computer Training” on August 19, 2025, organized by the Department of Arts and Sciences (DAS). This session focused on enhancing participants’ digital literacy by introducing the fundamentals of internet use and email communication.
The program opened with a prayer, followed by opening remarks from Asst. Prof. Ron Erik C. Frontuna, department extension coordinator, who emphasized the value of digital competence in today’s fast-changing environment. Dr. Carlo Emil Mañabo kept the energy high as session moderator, ensuring a smooth flow of activities.
To gauge participants’ initial knowledge, a pre-test was administered by Ms. Janine B. Bacosmo, faculty extensionist, who also served as the resource speaker for the day. Ms. Bacosmo guided participants through essential concepts of browsing the internet, navigating websites, and maintaining safe online practices, before moving into hands-on activities on email creation, sending messages, and inbox management.
Certificates of Attendance were distributed to recognize participants’ engagement and learning. In her closing remarks, Asst. Prof. Shiela Vidallon, department chairperson, encouraged attendees to apply their newly gained skills to improve both personal and professional communication.
The activity’s success was further supported by the dedicated efforts of BS Computer Science student extensionists, who assisted participants throughout the training.
Through programs like PowerUp, CvSU Carmona continues to advance digital empowerment, providing communities with practical skills that strengthen confidence and productivity in the digital age.
