Cavite State University – Carmona Campus, through its Department of Arts and Sciences and Extension Services Office, successfully held the third session of its digital empowerment series, Power Up: Basic Computer Skills Training, on May 16, 2025, under the CvSUCCESS' Project AKKaP.
The session opened with a prayer, fostering a spirit of unity and gratitude among the participants and facilitators. Asst. Prof. Ron Erik C. Frontuna, Project AKKaP leader and faculty extensionist, formally welcomed the participants with his opening remarks. He emphasized the importance of acquiring digital presentation skills in today's communication-driven world and highlighted the role of community engagement in empowering lifelong learners. He also introduced the resource speaker for the day.
Ms. Janine B. Bacosmo, CvSUCCESS program leader and campus extension services coordinator, served as the resource speaker and facilitator for the session focused on Google Slides. She delivered an in-depth discussion on the platform’s key features, including slide creation, design customization, layout formatting, and the integration of multimedia elements such as images, charts, and transitions.
Following the discussion, participants engaged in a hands-on training, where they applied the concepts learned by creating their own slide presentations. With guidance from faculty and student extensionists, they were able to explore real-time formatting tools and collaborative features in Google Slides, enhancing both their technical proficiency and confidence in public communication tools.
As a highlight, two randomly selected participants were given the opportunity to present their outputs in front of the group. This quick presentation allowed attendees to showcase their creativity and newly acquired skills in a practical and confidence-building exercise.
The session concluded with the awarding of certificates to recognize the commitment and active participation of the attendees.
The event was also made successful through the collective efforts of the unmentioned but dedicated faculty and student extensionists, including Asst. Prof. Yolanda A. Satiada, Ms. Nathalie Faye Toledo, Ms. Precious Donita Roallos, Mr. Daryl Lyndon T. Supan, Mr. Francis C. Callos, and Mr. Ivan Christian M. Herrera (Bachelor of Secondary Education).
