Cavite State University (CvSU)–Carmona Campus, through its Extension Services Office, held a meaningful volunteer-centered seminar entitled “SPARK of Service: Sustaining Passion and Radiating Kindness in the Spirit of Service” at the campus Audio-Visual Room. The activity brought together students from various academic organizations and faculty members in a shared commitment to community service.
The primary objective of the seminar was to encourage and sustain the spirit of volunteerism, inspiring both students and faculty extensionists to serve others with purpose, resilience, and compassion. The program formally commenced under the guidance of the master of ceremonies, Ms. Omega R. Gresola, who welcomed participants with warmth and enthusiasm.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Mr. Antonino Jose L. Bayson, extension coordinator of the Department of Management. He expressed his appreciation for the participants’ presence and support and encouraged everyone to actively join the gift-giving activity scheduled later in the afternoon, reminding attendees that the program’s core mission is service to the community.
A highlight of the seminar was Asst. Prof. Ron Erik C. Frontuna, extension coordinator of the Department of Arts and Sciences, sharing his interpretation of the acronym “SPARK.” In his presentation:
Serve emphasizes sharing one’s time, skills, and compassion.
Perseverance underscores the commitment needed to sustain volunteer efforts despite challenges.
Advocate highlights the importance of giving voice to pressing issues and empowering communities.
Reach Out focuses on building genuine connections grounded in trust and respect.
Kindle Hope represents the driving force that energizes volunteer initiatives and inspires others to envision brighter possibilities.
He encouraged participants to become that “small spark” capable of transforming lives and to embody the change they wish to see in the world.
The morning program concluded with final reminders from Mr. Bayson regarding the afternoon gift-giving activity, followed by the awarding of certificates of appreciation to donors in recognition of their generosity and support. Ms. Janine B. Bacosmo, campus extension coordinator, formally closed the seminar by expressing her gratitude to everyone for their active participation and dedication.
The SPARK of Service seminar exemplifies CvSU–Carmona’s commitment to fostering volunteerism, inspiring students and faculty to radiate kindness and make a meaningful difference in their community.
