Music ensembles consist of 0.5 or 1 unit of university credit. A zero unit ensemble is a registration exception where students can fully participate in a music ensemble for 0 units of university credit.
No. Concordia allows zero unit registration to help students in the following scenarios:
Avoiding university overload tuition: If, after accounting for your private lessons, you will still incur university overload tuition, you may take an ensemble for zero units.
Staying under the per semester unit maximum: Students may register for no more than 21 units per semester. The zero-unit option may be used in order to prevent exceeding this limit.
Academic probation unit maximums: Students on academic probation are limited to 13 units or less. These students may petition to take ensembles for zero units in order to not exceed this maximum.
Yes, multiple ensembles may be taken for zero units as long as one of the above scenarios applies to you.
Meet with your academic advisor to plan out your semester and confirm the total number of units you will be registering for.
If you will be registering for more than 18 units, apply for overload.
Complete the Zero Unit Ensemble Request Form.
Your request will be evaluated by the Music Office to see if you qualify to take an ensemble for zero units.
If your request is approved, the Registrar's Office will enroll you in the zero unit ensemble automatically and no further action is required.
If your request is denied or only partially approved, you will receive an email from the Music Office with more information and will need to register for credit.
