Music Majors must attend 40 concerts during their time at Concordia
Music minors must attend 10 concerts during their time at Concordia
Transfer students must attend an average of 5 concerts per semester they're enrolled at Concordia
Note: Students who study off-campus or abroad for a portion of their undergraduate studies will not receive a reduction to these requirements.
Each music major and minor will receive a personalized spreadsheet to track their Concert Attendance progress during their time at Concordia. This will be emailed during the first semester of study.
If you have questions or have not received your report, please email Prof. Siri Lyon, siri.lyon@cui.edu.
Concert Attendance is a required course for music majors and minors to graduate, however you only need to register for it once! Register for MUS 100: Concert Attendance during the semester you expect to reach your concert attendance requirement, and if you reach your goal as planned you will be given a "Pass" for the course.
Example: You are a music major and by the end of Fall semester you have attended 35 concerts and have only 5 remaining to get to the required 40 concerts attended. Register for MUS 100 for the next Spring semester and attend the remaining 5 concerts to complete this graduation requirement.
The following types of concerts are approved by the Music Department to receive concert attendance credit:
Any concert or recital produced by the Concordia Music Department
Ensemble concerts, Noon Recitals, student recitals, concerts by guest artists, etc.
Professional or collegiate level orchestra
Professional or collegiate level choir
Professional or collegiate level chamber ensemble
The following types of concerts are not approved by the Music Department to receive concert attendance credit:

Events in which ensembles participate as support to social functions (cocktail hours, coffee shop performances, etc.)
Case-by-case exceptions will be at the discretion of Prof. Siri Lyon or full time faculty.
For all music events on campus, a Sign In/Sign Out sheet will be placed near the entrance of the venue. You must sign in and out of the performance, showing that you attended the full duration of the event. If only one signature is present, you will not receive credit.
After the event, the Sign In/Sign Out sheet will be returned to the Music Office and Prof. Lyon will enter the concert attendance into record.
If you attend an off campus event, please bring the following items to Prof. Lyon to receive credit:
