In the service of their large and powerful ruler, KING, the Woke Apes of Paradise Vale had their minds awakened by a mythical figure they refer to as "The Spriggs."
What do Woke Apes know?
Despite their newfound intelligence woke apes are in the habit of thinking and acting like beasts. They respect strength first and foremost, but cunning comes in a close second. They are fascinated by the complex tools used by their New Valorian allies. They value food, shelter, and family. They feel bound to the land itself and seek to punish those who would do it harm. For sport they enjoy wrestling, throwing contests, and eating.
Races do not provide stat bonuses or penalties. Instead add +2 to one stat, +1 to a second stat, and -1 to a third stat after performing point buy. Valorians can instead choose to add +1 to all six stats.
As an awakened ape you have traits in common with both Valorians and beasts.

Here are examples of traditional Ape names, translated into Valorian.
Some apes adopt a more traditional Valorian name to try and fit in.
In general, Woke Apes do not have organized religion. Instead they worship nature spirits and the spirits of famous Ape heroes. Awakened Apes seem to be drawn to the worship of Undine and Melora. Some worship the mousekin known as The Spriggs, seeing him as The Great Father of the Mind.
