Our Discord server has well over 100 members, but The Paradise Vale community is rather small for a West Marches campaign. GM and player availability limit the frequency of play. Thus, it's important to reward our GMs for their continuing efforts to create opportunities for adventure. GMs receive compensation for running each session. Furthermore, they earn passive experience points for their player characters. Ensuring they keep pace with their fellow players when joining games on the other side of the DM screen.

Each DM maintains their own VTT instance of Paradise Vale, be it Foundry or Roll20. This redundancy allows us to have multiple, ongoing PV sessions happening at the same time, without any double or triple booking of resources.

Because many users experience a variety of issues with the native voice chat tools of Roll20.net we have chosen Discord as the standard for Paradise Vale. Important info on using Discord:

Supporting the Community

Paradise Vale sessions will run 3-5 hours, depending on the DM and available schedules. Groups will be 3-6 players in size, not counting the DM. Regardless of group size or game length, each player pays $5 to reserve a spot a game. Once a place is reserved, this money is non-refundable. The DM running the session can keep any or all of the dues collected. They can also refund the contributions, or use the funds to support the server, purchase new maps, supplements, or other resources to improve the game. Players are welcome to contribute more to the server and games by boosting the server or picking up supplements and maps GMs might have on their wishlists.

Currently there are 2 active GMs (or Game Masters) for Paradise Vale. The term DM (or Dungeon Master) will also be used interchangeably. The best way to reach them is through Discord. If you would like to try your hand at DMing for Paradise Vale, please reach out to use on Discord.

Rtk is a young, bright-eyed visionary who, despite his youth, has a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill regarding tabletop, particularly 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. Inspired by the wonderful performances of Critical Role, and eager to explore new methods of running the game, it was Rtk who came up with the idea of Paradise Vale.
