Theme for Q4
This quarter, students will learn how to identify rooms typically found in a home. We will listen to traditional songs such as El patio de mi casa.
Quarter 4 Objectives: Novice Low
Interpretive: I can identify the names of rooms commonly found in a home,
Interpersonal: I can say where I live (Chicago) and what type of home I live in.
Presentational: I can describe my favorite room.
Theme for Q3
This quarter, students will learn vocabulary related to parts of the body. We will also explore emotion words using the book El monstruo de colores.
Quarter 3 Objectives: Novice Low
Interpretive: I can identify the names of different body parts.
Interpersonal: I can guess the parts of the body or the color associated with an emotion.
Presentational: I can express how I feel.
Theme for Q2
This quarter, students will learn how to express what their name is and how old they are. They will also learn to identify family members, including family pets.
Quarter 2 Objectives: Novice Low
Interpretive: I can match pictures of family members with the correct word in Spanish.
Interpersonal: I can state my name and my age.
Presentational: I can describe my family using Yo tengo (I have).
Theme for Q1
This quarter, students will learn a few Spanish greetings as well as how to express how they are feeling. They will read the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear and use it to identify colors and numbers up to 10. Some students may also begin to memorize the names of the animals in the story.
Quarter 1 Objectives: Novice Low
Interpretive: I can match photos of animals with their names.
Interpersonal: I can say if I feel well, so-so, or sick.
Presentational: I can say numbers from 1-10.
