Theme for Q4
This quarter, students will learn about clothing. They will be able to identify clothing vocabulary, compare clothing commonly worn in Ciudad de Panamá with Chicago, and learn about molas, a traditional textile art of the Guna indigenous community.Â
Quarter 4 Objectives: Novice Mid
Interpretive: I can identify familiar key words related to clothing or molas.
Interpersonal: I can ask and answer simple questions about a mola's design.Â
Presentational: I can write lists and memorized phrases on familiar topics such as clothing needed for a trip or a description of molas.Â
Theme for Q3
This quarter, students will learn about school! They will be able to identify school supplies and subjects, learn how to tell basic time, and compare their school schedule with schedules of schools in Panama.
Quarter 3 Objectives: Novice Mid
Interpretive: I can identify the names of classes and their locations on a class schedule.Â
Interpersonal: I can share the time or day of an event or class. / I can describe what supplies are in my backpack.
Presentational: I can give some simple information about my classroom or school.Â
Theme for Q2
This quarter, students will learn about some common foods and dishes of Panama. They will review basic food vocabulary and use this knowledge to express preferences. Students will begin to practice forming questions.
Quarter 2 Objectives: Novice Mid
Interpretive: I can identify typical foods of Panama.
Interpersonal: I can state my favorite foods and drinks and those I don't like.Â
Presentational: I can describe a favorite dish.Â
Theme for Q1
This quarter, students will learn how to describe themselves and others using the verb SER (to be) and related adjectives, as well as review related vocabulary from prior years. Students will learn more about who lives in Panama.
Quarter 1 Objectives: Novice Mid
Interpretive: I can identify some phrases describing a character or person.
Interpersonal: I can describe myself and my family members.
Presentational: I can name my family members, their ages, their relationships to me, and what they like to do.
