Theme for Q4
This quarter, students will learn about typical foods found in Bolivia's different departments. They will review basic food vocabulary and continue to build conversational skills around expressing preferences and agreeing/disagreeing with others.Â
Quarter 3 Objectives: Novice High - Intermediate LowÂ
Interpretive: I can identify the topic and related information from simple sentences in short informational texts. /Â I can understand a message on a social media post.Â
Interpersonal: I can express, ask about, and react with some details to preferences, feelings or opinions on familiar topics by creating simple sentences and asking appropriate follow-up questions .
Presentational: I can create a simple written or graphic advertisement to encourage someone to purchase a product or service. / I can give a series of reasons that a food is appealing to me.

This quarter, students will learn about Bolivia's natural resources and explore how advocacy and voice are important within communities.Â

Theme for Q2
This quarter, students will learn more about La Paz as they discuss issues of identity and clothing as a representation of identity both in Bolivia and in the United States. Students will be able to discuss their own clothing styles as well as describe both modern and traditional Bolivian styles.

Interpretive: I can identify the topic and related information from simple sentences in short informational texts.Â
Interpersonal: I can ask and answer questions related to preferences about clothing styles.Â
Presentational: I can present on familiar and everyday topics, using simple sentences. / I can write a simple profile of a famous athlete, celebrity, or historical figure.Â
Theme for Q1
This quarter, students will learn about different neighborhoods of La Paz, Bolivia, to identify what makes a place unique. They will then apply this knowledge to their own neighborhoods here in Chicago. We will review both verbs that mean "to be," SER and ESTAR, as well as related adjectives and other vocabulary.
Quarter 1 Objectives: Novice HighÂ
Interpretive: I can identify the topic and some isolated facts from simple sentences in informational texts.
Interpersonal: I can exchange information about things to do in my city or neighborhood.
Presentational: I can describe where I go and what I do.
