Theme for Q4
This quarter, students will continue to practice the differences between the two verbs that mean "to be" in Spanish (SER and ESTAR). They will focus on getting to know a little more about Peruvian culture, its food and its customs.Â
Quarter 4 Objectives: Novice HighÂ
Interpretive: I can identify the topic and some isolated facts from simple sentences in informational texts.Â
Interpersonal: I can express, ask about, and react with some details to preferences, feelings, or opinions on familiar topics, by creating simple sentences and asking appropriate follow-up questions.

Theme for Q2
This quarter, students will continue to discuss the three regions of Peru by exploring the stories found in the books Pequeños artesanos, Pequeños cocineros and Pequeños danzantes. Students will begin to understand the differences between the two verbs that mean "to be" in Spanish (SER and ESTAR). They will review family vocabulary and present about a family tradition.

Theme for Q1
This quarter, students will learn about the three major geographic regions of Peru: the coast, the mountains and the rainforest. They will read and discuss different activities that can be done in each region. This quarter, students will learn how to conjugate regular present-tense verbs.

Interpretive: I can identify the topic and some isolated facts from simple sentences in informational texts.
Interpersonal: I can exchange information about different activities to do in different places.
Presentational: I can recommend places and activities for those visiting Peru or Chicago.
