Assessment Calendar:
Interpretive Assessment: One assignment every week, usually happens on Wednesdays. One assessment every other week on Fridays. This assessment happens up to 4 times per quarter.
Presentational Assessment: One assignment every week, usually happens on Tuesdays. One assessment every other week on Thursdays or Fridays. This assessment happens up to 5 times per quarter.
Interpersonal Assessment: One assignment every two weeks, usually happens on Thursdays. One assessment every other week on Wednesdays. This assessment happens up to 3/4 times per quarter, depending on the quarter length and the unit content.

Quarter 1, Objectives and Unit 1: What I do in My House
Learners Can:
Interpersonal:
I can communicate on very familiar topics using a variety of words and phrases that I have practiced and memorized.
I can understand and use a mixture of phrases and sentences related to my house, rooms, furniture, and activities I do at my house
Interpretive:
I can recognize some letters or words. I can understand some learned or memorized words and phrases when I read or hear.
I can understand some simple Arabic ways of housing when I see them in a text or hear them on the Arabic news.
Presentational:
I can present information about myself and some other very familiar topics using a variety of words, phrases, and memorized expressions.
I can present to some audiences about my house, rooms, furniture, and the activities I do at my house.
Quarter 2, Objectives and Unit 2: The Global Weather and Season
Learners Can:
Interpretive Listening and Reading:
· Read and comprehend a few related sentences about weather, seasons, and holidays in the Arab World and the U.S. that occur during specific seasons.
· Tell the weather and season when listening to them in an authentic video, along with comparisons between traditions of celebrating holidays in the Arab World and the U.S. that occur during specific seasons.
Presentational Speaking:
· Labeling and describing multiple visuals with the proper sentence for the season and weather description.
· Describe in speaking and writing my favorite season and holiday, indicating what I do during the holiday and what clothes I wear.
Interpersonal Speaking:
· Converse about the weather and seasons, and holidays related to my own culture and the Arab World.
· Ask and respond about the weather today, this week, and this month, and my favorite holiday.
Quarter 3, Objectives and Unit 3: Welcome to the Arab World

I can identify the topic and some isolated facts from simple sentences in informational texts.
I can understand written or spoken about geography, Landforms, Art, Directions, Arabic Countries and Capitals, and weather descriptions in different seasons, whether it is written or spoken.

I can present personal information about my life and activities, using simple sentences most of the time.
I can describe and present information about geography, Landforms, Art, Directions, Arabic Countries and Capitals, and weather descriptions in different seasons.
Interpersonal Speaking:

Quarter 4, Objectives and Unit 1: Review of Multiple Topics (Unit 1)
Learners Can:
This is to prepare our Arabic learners to take the STAMP Language Test (4S) provided by CPS in mid-March of next year to obtain the State of Illinois Path for the Seal of Biliteracy.
In preparation for the next academic year's STAMP test for 8th grade, we are reviewing multiple topics for Unit 1, such as Weather, Sports, Pastimes, and Schooling.
