It is my pleasure to see all of my students and welcome our new students to our Arabic class. I will be more than delighted to teach you and increase the Arabic language and culture this year. We will be learning more Arabic topics in a fun way so that we can enjoy every moment in class. Students are encouraged to teach their parents/guardians about what we do in class for the sake of practice and engaging their family members in the learning process.

WL late work policy (for grades 3-8)
Late work will be accepted under the following conditions:
Ø Interpersonal Mode Assessments: No makeups/redos unless the student was absent or had extenuating circumstances. Makeups are to be scheduled with the teacher. If the student does not participate in the interpersonal mode assessment after multiple attempts and/or modifications (ie, there is nothing to grade), then the student will receive a zero in the Gradebook, and the parent will be notified.
Ø Presentational Mode Assessments: For absences or extenuating circumstances, students will be allowed up to one week scheduled with the teacher to complete the written assignment or present to the class. If a student arrives on the presentation day with nothing prepared, then a grade of zero will be zero until the presentation is completed. The highest grade earned on a late presentation is 89.
Ø Interpretive Mode Assessments: If absent, the student will be allowed up to one week to make up the assessment. Retakes will be at the discretion of the teacher, depending on the assignment.
Ø In-Class Work: Any in-class work that is not completed within the timeframe set by the teacher should be completed at home and returned the following class day.
Ø No extra credit assignments.
Ø For grades 4-8, it is your responsibility to find out what assignments/quizzes were missed during an absence. Check with your partners *before* consulting me.
Ø If you have an excused absence, you have the same number of days absent to turn in your work.
Ø In case of a long-term absence, it is the students' and parents’ responsibility to meet with the teacher as soon as possible in order to arrange a plan for submitting missed assignments.
Ø All missed quizzes and homework will be taken upon return from the absence. You will be asked to arrange a time to make up quizzes during your language period.
How can I help my child learn the Arabic content of the week?
Parents/Guardians Support and Monitor Progress
1- Monitor that your child is following the plan step by step for the reading and writing plan.
2- Encourage your child to say all the daily learned letters or even sing the alphabet song to you.
3- You may test his /her knowledge of the alphabet by printing these flashcards and asking him/her to say the letter on the flashcard. Make sure no English is written on flashcards:
https://www.totcards.com/free-arabic-alphabet-flashcards.html
Or you can even watch him/her doing this Quizlet Letters self-check activity: https://quizlet.com/260339913/arabic-alphabet-flash-cards/
4- Assure that s/he uses the book to trace the letters or the set of letters he is working on.
Current Content Plan for your child; otherwise, what we are learning in our class:
1- Take your Arabic packet home every day. Spend 10-15 minutes practicing the current vocabulary daily.
2- Complete any missing assignments at home to be on track to finish things online.
3- Ask immediately when you need help.
4- Practice reading the sentence related to every part of the unit as soon as we start each part of the unit.
5- When we do the reading portion of each part of the unit, please be encouraged to raise your hand to try to read. Participate in speaking activities by raising your hand to try. You won’t lose anything to try, but you might earn Falcon bucks.
6- Email if you need any help with any assignment.
All updates and announcements will be added to this page as well as emailed and inserted on my LaSalle II web page. Parents are more than welcome to join our Google Classroom pages. All class assignments will be listed on the Google Classroom page as well as the weekly lesson plan.
All new students have a special learning plan designed to help them catch up with their peers. The New Students Learning Plan is posted on your child's Google Classroom.
