Quarter 1, Objectives and Unit 1: Things in my Backpack and Classroom

Learners Can:

Interpretive: 

Read simple words based on letters previously taught in terms of shapes and phonetics about things found in the backpack or classroom. 

Interpersonal: 

Ask and respond to questions with, “Do you have___?”

Give and follow one-step classroom directions.

Presentational Speaking:

Name things in their backpack correctly (e.g., pencil, crayon, eraser, book, ruler, pencil case, glue, backpack, etc.).

Give simple classroom commands such as walk to…(chair/door/desk/window) and stand up/sit on the chair. 

Identify things around the classroom (e.g., book, window, door, table, desk, chair, etc. 

Presentational Writing: Trace and write Arabic words based on presented visuals of school materials and classroom objects.

Quarter 2, Objectives and Unit 2: The Weather in my City 

Learners Can:

Interpretive Listening and Reading:

Read and comprehend a few related words and simple phrases in connection with weather and seasons.  

Tell the weather and season when listening to them in an authentic song.  

Presentational Speaking: 

Label multiple visuals with the proper word for the season and weather description. 

Sing songs about the 4 seasons and their weather descriptions. 

Interpersonal Speaking:

Converse about the weather and seasons.

Ask and respond about the weather today, this week, and this month.

Quarter 3, Objectives and Unit 3: My Favorite Foods and Drinks

Learners Can:               عيد الاضحى: Festival of Sacrifice  celebrated in winter                                                                                                                                          عيد الفطر: Breaking the Fasting Holiday celebrated in summer

EInterpretive:

Read/Listen to and identify some common foods and beverages. 

Understand a simple written food and beverage menu created by their peers. 

Interpersonal

Converse about the likes and dislikes of certain foods and drinks in the simple present tense.  

Share favorite foods and drinks with their peers

Presentational:

Sing authentic cultural songs containing food and beverage vocabulary. 

Label my favorite foods and beverages on a menu.

Quarter 4, Objectives and Unit 4: Welcome to My House 

Learners Can:

Interpretive:

-Read and comprehend Arabic words and phrases related to house rooms and the 5 basic activities I do at home.

-Identify basic house rooms and some simple things found in my house, such as a sofa, TV, phone, table, toothbrush, soap, towel, etc.

Interpersonal

-Ask and answer simple questions about objects, rooms, and things I do in each of my house rooms. (Question: What is this?  Answer: This is___) 

(Question: Do you have this in ______(room)? Answer: I have ___) 

Presentational:

-Name the rooms of the house and some items in those rooms.

-Tell what you have in this room. E.g. I have ___ in ____    

-Give simple descriptions of what you do in ____(The room)
