Wes Taylor, Executive Director, Coastal Plains RESA

Wes Taylor served as superintendent of Lowndes County Schools from 2012 until his retirement in June of 2022 and was named a state finalist for the 2022 Superintendent of the Year for the state of Georgia. He is a strong proponent of students being actively engaged in meaningful learning activities and participating in extracurricular activities that interest them.  Wes has served on the Governor’s Education Advisory Council, the Governor’s Education Finance Study Commission, the Governor’s Dual Enrollment Funding Taskforce, the Georgia State School Superintendents Advisory Council, and the Georgia School Superintendents Association Board of Directors. He also served as a mentor for new superintendents, Executive Coach for new principals through Kennesaw State University, was an Advisor for the Valdosta State University Education Leadership Program, and served on the University of Georgia College of Education Superintendents Advisory Council.
