About Us

The program was designed to achieve three goals. 1. To provide opportunities for academic enrichment and tutorial services to meet state and local performance standards in core academic subjects. 2. To offer students an array of youth development activities designed to improve physical, social, and emotional well-being. 3. Offer literacy and related education development for families of 21st CCLC participants.

Since then, Coastal Plains RESA has been awarded numerous additional 21st Century Community Learning Center grants as well as many Department of Human Services funding opportunities. The evaluation results have been outstanding! These programs provide academic enrichment to at-risk students as well as maintaining a close working relationship with local community partners, including the Department of Children and Family Services, to ensure recruitment of youth in the Independent Living Program, Foster Care and other DFCS service programs.
