Bridges® Intervention is a mathematics resource designed to provide students with short periods of targeted instruction to support specific skills and concepts. It is designed to support all students in making sense of mathematics by building on what they already know and understand. Bridges Intervention is organized by big ideas rather than grade level. Volumes 1–4 address important number concepts as well as computation skills with addition and subtraction. Volumes 5–9 address multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. All volumes include activities, games, practice pages, and problem situations. The tasks and activities in Bridges Intervention reflect what education research tells us about how children make sense of mathematics. Most activities involve models that help students understand big ideas, generally starting with hands-on math tools, moving to two-dimensional representations (frames, graphic organizers, sketches, etc.), and finally to mental images.
