Cove is currently beginning to implement ETR's HealthSmart program for Middle Schoolers. With the new program, our class will study a variety of ways to have a healthy lifestyle. Key topics will include decision-making, stress management, drug use and abuse, social and antisocial behaviors, environment, and stress management.
Sex Education:
Cove partners with Lurie's Children's Hospital's Division of Adolescent Medicine to provide Sexual Health Education each year. Here you will find a letter from Lurie's team breaking down the program. As stated in the letter, Illinois Public Act 102-0522, Section 15D states "No student shall be required to participate in any class or course in comprehensive personal health and safety and comprehensive sexual health education. You may opt your student out of the comprehensive sexual education program by emailing me or submitting a request in writing.
Students will be assessed in a variety of ways including tests, quizzes, and projects. Study guides will be provided before each test. Students are expected to study at home each night leading up to a test. There will also be opportunities in class to review for a test. We will use Blooket, Kahoot, Gimkit, etc.
