Junior grades are a significant factor in college admission decisions, and thus will influence your college list. Make wise time commitments to balance academics with leadership on and off campus while strengthening skills and talents.
All year:
School holidays and spring break are some of the best opportunities to tour colleges. Register early for visits during these times as tours and information sessions can fill up.
Meet with college representatives who visit CCA.
Participate in Junior Internship course.
Re-take the interest portion of YouScience for newly paired results.
Apply for 10 scholarships.
October:
Take the PSAT (These scores determine eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program.)
January:
Participate in Junior Day activities.
Make plans to visit colleges in the Spring and Summer
March - April:
Participate well in Junior Seminar class activities
Take the SAT if you haven’t already.
Update your resume. Hint: Utilize your YouScience results!
Complete the Student Information and Self-Assessment Form.
Parents will complete the Parent Input Form.
Meet with your college advisor to discuss your initial college list, upcoming college visits, and summer plans.
Ask teacher(s) to write recommendations for your applications.
May:
Take AP exams, if applicable.
Finish strong!
Take the SAT (if you didn't in March) - meet with your counselor to decide how much SAT testing is needed
Summer: The summer before senior year is an important time for enrichment, whether securing a job, engaging in service, or taking a class or academic program. Invest well!
College apps open August 1st!
Consider the test prep options:
Free options are available through Khan Academy (SAT) and ACT Academy.
An SAT Prep course through a local provider, or private tutor may be considered.
Take the SAT and ACT at least once. (See your College Advisor on which tests to pursue and when.)
TIP: Be sure to check your CCA email regularly.
