School of Discipleship (Willis Point, Texas)
A one-year missions internship program designed to challenge and establish young adults in their walk with Christ through service in ministry, the careful study and application of God’s word, and fellowship with other like-minded believers who wholeheartedly love Jesus and want to make His name known. Participation in School of Discipleship means serving with the largest missions organization working in South Asia. Students receive practical training needed for living out a Christian life and equips them with missions ministry experience all while helping reach millions with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
YWAM DTS (Discipleship Training Schools) (California, Australia, Mexico – over 200 worldwide locations) are a pre-requisite to becoming a YWAM (Youth With a Mission) staff member.
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) seeks to bring students into a more intimate relationship with God and creates the opportunity for students to discover their passions and their part in God’s purposes for the world. It is for those who long to follow Jesus in new ways with a different perspective. The course is a full-time program and lasts five or six months. It consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase. In the lecture phase, students will learn more about God and His world. You’ll learn not only from lectures but also from community living and practical training. The outreach phase focuses on applying what you learned in the classroom through an intense, cross-cultural experience.

Americorps - AmeriCorps does not charge any fees and offers thousands of opportunities for young people to engage in short-term experiences. Participants receive a modest stipend to cover living expenses and healthcare benefits. Housing is sometimes provided.
A major benefit of the program is the opportunity to earn an award to help fund subsequent education. The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award provides participants with up to $5750 upon successful completion of an AmeriCorps program. In addition, there is currently a group of 112 colleges that will match the Segal Award with funding of their own.
Peace Corps - College graduates looking for a productive gap experience overseas should also consider the Peace Corps if they are able to spend 27 months in service. The Peace Corps provides travel to and from placements, healthcare and medical benefits, living expenses, and a relocation allowance of $10,000 upon completion of the 27-month assignment. Student loans can be deferred during Peace Corps service as well.
