Annette Gordon-Reed is a Conroe, Texas native who grew up during the Jim Crow era. She was the first black student in her elementary school. She went on to graduate from Dartmouth college in 1981 and Harvard Law School in 1984, where she is now currently employed. She's had multiple texts published and is the proud recipient of a number of various awards and accolades. Annette Gordon-Reed became a namesake for Conroe ISD in 2022 when Gordon-Reed Elementary was opened in her honor.
