Agriculture in Interior Design
SBP Project
SBP Project
How does it affect peoples well-being?
Plan:
For my School-Based Project, I am planning to create a space within the first floor of the building I go to school in and design an area using plants. Asking how it affected the environment indoors, how it affects the community, how affects the people and etc. I want the room to be something that you feel nostalgic in, like playing with the bugs outside, or playing hop-scotch during recess periods, though in the Philippines we had something called "Piko" which is similar to hop-scotch!Â
Why do I want to explore this area though?
At the start of the year I was kind of lost of what I wanted to do for an SBP and had to go back and forth on certain topics. I remember going outside a lot for ideas, until one day I was introuced into Grey and Ivy's place where I found my passion again for architecture, specifically interior design. My advisory was working on hydroponics at that time, and that left me curious, how does agriculture affect an indoor space?
Process of the Mural
On the first floor of 321 McDermot Ave, I painted a mural in between the two big main windows that you see when you first come onto the first floor. The reason why I wanted to create this mural is because I wanted to make it look like a backdrop or something to blend in with the plants I'm going to use. I decided to paint a mango tree or specifically in the Philippines, an Ataulfo Mango tree. Why a mango tree? I was born in the Philippines and was raised there for a while until I moved to Canada because my parents wanted a better life for me and my brother at that time, it reminded me of when I used to pick mangoes from a mango tree. The theme around my SBP is nostalgia which is the biggest reason I chose it, is because it reminds me of home and it's nostalgic for me.
