Sprint Project

The ad I am focusing on is how pests biology is compared to a human’s biology as well as focused on the ways to prevent pests instead of spraying higher amounts of pesticides so that they can’t gain even more immunity to them. The reason why I wanted to focus on this was because this has been an interest of mine and I actually learned a little bit about it during my project of agriculture in grade 6. It also affects our produce, and if produce reduces in quality or quantity, the price goes up for the healthier options.

The purpose of the research I have included is so that my audience, or the audience I am trying to reach out to, can know how to prevent pests in more eco-friendly ways, and ways that won’t affect the crops quality or affect the quality of the person’s life. My target audience are farmers and gardeners because they are the people that need to know more about how they can prevent pests in several different methods and ways that are more environmentally safe. I feel it is important for them to know because it is like a whole cycle, they provide our produce, if they lose a lot of it, the price of the produce will go up for us consumers (inflation!).

The reason I decided to use a poster was because I noticed that a lot of the information about this topic is usually within an article, and it’s also just about having something physical to look at since I believe that people tend to learn better off a screen, but also because so that I could visually show a comparison of a human body and pests together. Pests versus humans, we aren’t that far apart, we’re just like each other by heart (I’m such a poet oh my).

Something I’ve definitely noticed throughout the years, since I shop at Luckys and it is the nearest supermarket, all the stuff there is usually transported from Asia, even some of the produce. I noticed quite the quality depletion when shopping there from time to time, and it made me want to learn more about how the crops were grown and what causes or shapes their quality through various factors.

I think for my LTI, it can expand my knowledge and understanding about how pesticides also affect the environment and the different types of pests that tend to be more of a predator to crops. For my SBP, I want to be able to learn more about insects in general and how they can affect indoor and outdoor environments, much so like what I did last year with plants. I think something really interesting and cool was how you can design a whole functioning ecosystem using earthships or architecture so that us humans can be more attached to nature in that aspect.
