(First time 3D modeling was when I came into Tech Hub)
When I had finished the concept art, I used it to create my own stylized assets inside of the free 3D modeling program; Blender.
First Models
These were the first models I had ever made by myself when I touched Blender. I wasn't quite sure what to do or what tools to use, so the assets ended up looking very scuffed and really not the way I had intended the way I wanted to look.
Later Models
Throughout my time, I slowly started to be able to create better looking models for my build, I was able to learn new techniques, new tools to use, learning how to create doorways and etc!
Fixing Up
While I was making the models, I noticed when I imported them into Unreal Engine, they were hollow/see through. So, I got some help from my mentor and did the best I could to fixing up my models so that I didn't have to make completely different ones. What I noticed I was doing wrong before was deleting the faces on the object...
(Face: A shape within the object creating a new shaped surface on it)
and that would cause the models to look hollow in Unreal, so what I did instead was using the knife tool...
(Knife tool: Like scissors for the object, cutting any shape you'd like onto the object)
to cut multiple faces and then push them in a little to create an indent but not make holes within the asset.
