Internships

Kitchen Brigades

Starting the first year of Met School and high school in general, I was introduced to my first program/internship at the Met Centre for Arts and Technology.

At first I had no clue what I wanted to do and I just decided to join in this program even though I had already known how to both cook and bake.

Toolkit for Foster Families and Indigenous Youth in Care

Looking into the school’s year, there has been a lot that happened and many opportunities that had been open to me throughout the school year. During this week I was reminded of my work from last year in the ninth grade, and was even given the opportunity to get a hold of the Toolkit I had illustrated for!

Last year when I was just fresh into Met school, I was told about an opportunity to not only learn about native plants and how they are connected to Indigenous peoples, but also learn about what people are trying to do to work towards restoring what was stolen from this land and place. The toolkit I had designed for was a toolkit about the cultures of Indigenous peoples and even has recipes stored inside of them!

Tech Hub

Now, for this year I actually secured a half term time for Tech Hub, and each LTI day I would go to New Media Manitoba for Tech Hub from 10 AM to 3 PM. In the first week of Tech Hub, we basically went through ground rules and what we will be expecting from Tech Hub. We also went on a tour of the Exchange and learned the history of the buildings around the Exchange (Nahum should’ve been there and I have no clue why we needed to do that). In the following weeks of Tech Hub, we basically learned about subjects that will help us with any sort of media we want to create during that time in Tech Hub, whether that being a game we can interact and play with, or a cinematic video with animations creating and using the things we learned in the cinematography class.

City Builders

The Leaf

The Leaf is a spectacular indoor horticultural attraction at Assiniboine Park where visitors will journey through four distinct biomes; the Hartley and Heather Richardson Tropical Biome, Mediterranean Biome, Babs Asper Display House, and the Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden. Experience a stunning showcase of our diversity, expressed through plants that shape our lives here and across the globe.

Outdoors, explore the Gardens at The Leaf which comprises close to 30 acres of gardens and greenspace. There are six gardens to explore; the Indigenous Peoples Garden, Kitchen Garden, Sensory Garden, Performance Garden, Seasonal Garden, and The Grove.
