Suicide Awareness, Prevention, and Intervention

ASIST

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), is a two-day, skills based workshop for intervening with a person at risk of suicide.

safeTALK

safeTALK is a 3.5 hour suicide prevention workshop focused on recognizing warning signs and connecting others with trained caregivers.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Mental Health First Aid

MHFA is delivered in two online three-hour modules facilitated live and one two-hour module that is self led. This course provides knowledge and skills to support someone with a mental health challenge or crisis.

The Inquiring Mind

An evidence-based program designed to address and promote mental health and reduce the stigma of mental illness in an educational/student setting.

Building Healthy Life Strategies

This 2.5 hour workshop is geared to developing and building your own stress management plan. We'll focus on skills to improve your personal and professional coping strategies by exploring how you currently respond to stress, consider other options, and help you choose strategies that can make it easier to bounce back from whatever life throws at you.

Substance Use and Harm Reduction

Cannabis Café 

Cannabis Café is a 90 minute education-based workshop targeted for post-secondary students, developed by the University of Calgary. It consists of three major activities: Trivia, a World Café and Goal Setting. Cannabis Café facilitates meaningful and evidence informed conversations on the topic of cannabis and aims to provide students with opportunities to discuss (1) science-based information versus misinformation, (2) personal experiences and beliefs, and (3) cannabis-related stereotypes.

Naloxone Training

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada has seen a dramatic increase in opioid-related toxicity deaths. At this training session you can expect to learn about the opioid crisis in Canada, what harm reduction is and how it works, what opioids are, and how to properly respond to an opioid poisoning using intramuscular naloxone.  You will also receive a naloxone kit as part of the training.

Recovery College offers courses which focus on providing resources and tools to individuals impacted by mental health and addiction challenges, and to their external supports. The courses were designed to operate in a pure peer-based environment and to help empower people of all walks of life, on their journey towards better mental health in a confidential and supportive environment. 

There are no fees for program participants.
