The Owl House
By Bryce Walsh
It’s rare these days to find an original, clever, animated show; this is why they must be appreciated by their networks and their audience. Disney’s ‘The Owl House’ has been airing for roughly two years and has been loved by fans across the world for its mystery, humor, and diversity. It is debatable that it could be Disney’s best show since ‘Gravity Falls.’ Sadly, executive producers consider it to ‘not fit the Disney brand’ and have its third season cut into three specials. This is against what the creator has been planning for years and angers many fans. As an animation enthusiast, I am angered by this and want to see how it’s meant to end. ‘The Owl House’ is an unappreciated show and deserves a full third season.
Ever since its first episode, viewers of all ages and backgrounds have enjoyed it. The show is mostly loved for its humor, animation, diversity, characters, and elaborate plot. According to the Disney plus informer, ‘Even though Disney hasn’t renewed the show beyond season 3, Creator Dana Terrace stated that fans should continue to share their love for The Owl House on social media in the hopes of spin-offs, shorts, movies, etc.’ The first rule of show business is to give the audience what they want, and Disney is doing the exact opposite
Disney is being unfair to ‘The Owl House’ just because it doesn’t fit its overdone brand. They figure just because it doesn’t have a fairy princess and has dark images, it isn’t worth funding. Moms.com leads, ‘Their biggest concern about The Owl House is that it features otherworldly evil, which can overwhelm young minds.’ They overreact to these new ideas even though many other modern cartoons show dark moments. But just because its prime time animation, doesn’t make it just for kids, “Owl House '' many fans are middle-aged adults that enjoy the humor and adventure. It may be different but other shows such as, ‘The Simpsons', ‘SpongeBob’ ‘Young Justice’ and ‘Avatar: Last Airbender’ had doubts but were huge successes.
The ‘Owl House’ is a great show that deserves more respect from Disney. Executives are nearly pulling the plug because they find it too dark. Many fans are not letting it go without a fight. Diana Terrace has sparked online patients to keep the legacy alive. Just because it’s animated and on prime time, doesn’t make it exclusively for kids. Cartoons have the right to be dark and tense from time to time and are meant for all ages. ‘Owl House’ is a symbol of diversity, maternity, and standing out. If anything it deserves to win an Emmy.

How Climate Change Has Impacted
Our Weather in the Last Five Years
By Harrison Ching
Did you know that because of climate change more than one million species are at risk of extinction within the next 10 years? The following generations won’t be able to see many of the amazing animals you see today such as Javan Rhinoceros, Cheetahs, Tigers, and Red tuna. Hurricanes will occur more often which will cause more destruction frequently and make it harder to survive in locations such as the Atlantic Coast, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Hawaiian islands. Land will decrease and oceans will flood affecting coastal cities world wide. Climate control has greatly impacted our weather in the last five years. (www.nbcnews.com)
Climate change has impacted and changed our weather patterns drastically in the last 5 years. 2021 had crazy weather impacts like the deep freeze in the south and the high temperatures in the west and northern Canada. The United States signed the Paris agreement adopted in 2015 which aimed to strengthen the global response to all forms of climate change. (www.nbcnews.com) Unfortunately, under the Trump administration, the US pulled out of this agreement and stalled any progress to make a change. Last year, under the Biden presidency, the US rejoined the Paris Agreement and vowed to fight climate change which has changed our country resulting in bad weather, droughts, snow, icing, deep freezes, and hurricanes. (www.nbcnews.com)
Additionally, there have been record rainfalls in 2021 northeast and the parts of Louisiana had massive bad storms. Louisiana got at least 20-25 inches of rainfall in August 2021, which is way above normal for this part of the US. According to sources on the epa.gov.com website, this is all happening because of climate change. 2022 we still have climate change issues with tornado record rainfall and record snowfall. Snowfall went up to at least 20 inches of snow this year New York City was hit with 10 inches of snow. We have never seen breaking record temperature or rainfall/snowfall get bad in the last 5 years. (www.epa.gov.com)
What can we do to reverse climate control and fix this? According to ABC news.com, there is still time to stop this issue and many ways to help our planet. Some suggestions are as simple as up the trash in the ocean, we can also switch to electric/use less energy on cars and we can use less energy and also we could clean up all the trash on the beach. Additionally, we are encouraged to change from gas to electric vehicles to save emissions and reduce climate change even more. (ABC news.com)
We can hope that climate change changes this year so we don't have another disaster and we can avoid big disasters. The climate crisis is accelerating, and we must dramatically cut our carbon emissions if we hope to preserve a livable planet. That means transforming our economy to build a pollution-free, 100% clean energy future. Perhaps the most important thing to do is to tell our members of Congress it’s time to invest big in a sustainable and just future, since Climate control has greatly impacted our weather in the last five years.
