CHS TALENT SHOW
The Community High School Talent Show was held on Dec. 16th 2022 to great success.Â
"Today's talent show just may have been one of the best ever!!" --Lisa Stein
Student, Nicholas Patella said "Probably the best one I've seen." Â
Students that performed agree...."Exciting and Exhilarating!" - Â Noah Rodman.
The show ran smoothly for about one hour and fifteen minutes and there wasn't a dull moment throughout. Many parents attended the performance and the show was live-streamed to Youtube. Students, staff, and families enjoyed the show alike. Â
The Broadcasting and Communications class led by Bryce Walsh, Kamora Holmes, Camille Arias-Rojas, Josh Bordereau hosted the show. Sound, music and lighting were controlled by Byron Hueca and Gabriel Flores and Julia Flynn did a great job as usual backstage controlling the curtain.Â
Twenty four students performed with acts ranging from solo classical piano to full band rock and roll performances. Teacher, Dan Fleishl said "I was really impressed not only with the talent of our students, but especially the talent across such a wide variety of genres. From classical piano to emo and pop-punk, to hip-hop and rap, to rock and pop, I was really amazed by the show that the students and staff put on this year."
This year's performers included: Mateo Rivera, Nick Storms, Joe Soriano, Tyler Gil, Noah Rodman, Oliver Fletcher, Matt Majors,Isabella LaGreca, Josh Feldman, Thomas Rivera, Bennett Weitz, Ella Kooij, Thomas Walker, Camille Arias-Rojas, Tristan Ruiz, Billy Mirabella, Jadyn Gaudelli, Jacob Williams, Jana Elkadi, Cyrus Kamel, David Bergado, Katelyn Rice, Samaira Vivek, Robert McQouid. All of which had unique and memorable experience.
Seniors, Mateo, Nick, Joe S., Tyler, and Noah kicked off the show with Queen hits "We Will Rock You" and "Killer Queen" followed by the Nirvana classic "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Mateo says "When I performed my first show I was very nervous. I felt really accomplished when I got through my second show." Bandmate, Joe Soriano said "Being scared doesn't keep you from putting on a good show, all they want to see is you." and Nick Storms said "I was very fearful performing on stage in front of an audience for the first time. It’s not an easy fear to conquer but once you do it and start performing it’ll be nothing to you. I took a deep breath and said to myself I’m a born star and could achieve anything that I put my mind to."
Here what some other student performers had to say...
"It was fun doing it and an experience I won't forgot." -Jadyn Gaudelli
"This show was a blast and I feel proud of my performance and gave hi-fives to my bandmates." - Billy Mirabella
"This was my first talent show performing in, and I was not disappointed. It was fun getting to play the piano in unison with the rest of the group while also getting to watch excellent talent from other performers." - Oliver Fletcher
"This has been my favorite talent show of all time! I'm very thankful to be on stage with everyone and can't wait to make a career out of this." Tyler Gil
Music teacher, Dave Graessle says "It's great to see the students perform at such a high level and watch their confidence blossom as they go through the process of learning, rehearsing and performing. And it's especially rewarding to have parents, faculty, and students, thank me. Michele Barretta's email summed it up perfectly. 'As always, you did a fantastic job with the show. After watching our kids on stage, I’m always reminded of the good that we do for our kids. You especially, bring out the best in them and seeing the self confidence they have up on stage is truly a beautiful thing! Thank you for your patience, your ability to bring out the best in our students and your part in making the parents so proud of their children.'
The show's success was helped by many staff members including Principal, Evan Toth who stepped out of his usual role to sing the last song, Run, Run Rudolph. Toth said  "It's always a thrill to perform in front of our students and staff. It's so important to see the many talents of all of the students in our school." Cliff O'Day played guitar and said "it was a pleasure to perform alongside his peers" while Dave's twin brother, Dan said "I loved getting to play the drums and reliving my high school years a drummer - the only thing missing was my mullet."  Â

First year assistant, Dan Amato helped prepare the students by assisting in rehearsals and performing onstage alongside them. "Getting to know each student and their respective talents through rehearsals, working with them one on one, and performing with them onstage, couldn't have been a better introduction to my first year working here." And "it's the best way for students to get involved and express themselves however they see fit - whether it be through performance or presentation of art." -Dan Amato
Two times a year the students get the chance to show the school their talents and it's always a pleasure to be surprised by their performances. It's something many of them will never forget. Â
