We started the day off eating breakfasts at our hotel and then headed off to whale watching! We unfortunately did not see any whales but we saw a pod of spinner dolphins! Spinner dolphins got their name from their habit of spinning their bodies in the air when they jump. They were so cute!
After we took the boat back to the mainland we headed to a shop in which many of us learned a very useful skill, how to barter in Chinese! We bought many yummy snacks and saw real hualian jade. After shopping we went to lunch where we got to eat crab and other seafood.
It was incredibly cool experience, but the best part was there was a koi pond and petting zoo in the back yard of the restaurant! We saw meerkats and got to feed capybaras, bunnies, alpacas, and baby goats. So cute!
We then headed off to pine grove where we got to learned about the remnants of the Japanese occupation of Taiwan during World War II (and we all got a lot of souvenirs).
After this we went to the beach and played! Yes. I said played! For the seniors this felt like a last moment of childhood and we had a blast. We covered each other in the small rocks that laid on the beach and build stone towers and ate ice cream cones.
Then we went on a two hour train ride back to Taipei where we would finish out journey in this beautiful country. The train was very comfortable, and you could even turn your row of chairs around to face the people behind you!
At dinner we sang Hotel California and 月亮代表我的心. Here we ate traditional Taiwanese stir fry. The food was delicious and the restaurant had amazing vibes!
We then headed over to our hotel to get some much needed rest before our long trip to Japan tomorrow.
