Earthquake Disaster Simulator
On Day 12, Columbus Academy students traveled to Sona Area Disaster Prevention to experience an earthquake disaster simulation! This sukuna room taught us about what can happen during an earthquake and how to react/act in the 72 hours post disaster. Due to the thousands of earthquakes Japan experiences annually, preparation for them and knowledge about them is incredibly essential and widespread. The experience here was enjoyable and informative!
After our earthquake experience, we went to lunch. As a group, CA students tried Japan’s traditionally styled curry with breaded chicken. Along with this we had seaweed/miso soup and shrimp! It was delicious!
Shopping at Asakusa
Once we were full, our tour buses took us to the beautiful district of Tokyo, Asakusa. This place was filled with elaborate red temple buildings and pagodas. There were also numerous shops and restaurants for our group to look at!
Tokyo SkyTree tower
Once our shopping was finished at Asakusa, we all headed over to Tokyo’s famous SkyTree. This experience, similar to Taipei 101, was exhilarating! The Tokyo SkyTree is 634 meters tall in reference to where the building stands. The figures MU (6) SA (3) SHI (4) stand for an old name, Musashi, of the region where the Tokyo SkyTree stands. In the tree, students could go all the way up to the 450th floor!
Dinner at Outback Steakhouse
For dinner, the students took a quick trip back to America at Japan's very own Outback Steakhouse. Here we had salads and burgers American style!
Shopping at Akihabara Electric Town
Once dinner was finished, students still wanted to explore! We all headed over, on the metro, to Akihabara’s Electric Town. This was extremely exciting! There were loads of shops and restaurants to discover. The streets were filled with lights and crowds also eager to explore.
