Apply ratios, rates, percentages
Make accurate calculations.
Accuracy is the degree to which a measured value is to the actual value. In other words, compute/calculate correct numbers. Show all your work. Round all values to Sig Figs.
Use conceptual ideas to explain phenomenon
Use scientific terminology and information accurately in appropriate contexts. Organize processes or explanations logically. Do not guess what is happening or why, but use reason and logic.
People get lots of money and notoriety for planning when to launch space probe and satellite missions to arrive at a specific location by a specific time... the precision and accuracy of the calculations these people make using so many variables (like mass, gravity, velocity, avoiding obstacles, energy source lifetime, timing of stages, etc.) is beyond impressive. Here are some fascinating missions that have recently deployed or finished where everything about the mission just went perfect.
JWST
First proposed in 2002, it was finally launched in 2021 to Earth’s L2 point. It’s entire design and location was planned to reduce interference as it observes deep space and seeks to learn how our Universe began, and advance science and technology.
LUCY
A probe visiting the Trojan Asteroids to learn about the formation of the Solar System. "Lucy is a NASA space probe on a twelve-year journey to eight different asteroids, visiting two main belt asteroids as well as six Jupiter trojans". The Trojans follow Jupiter, whereas the Greek Asteroids lead it.
DART
A test to see if we can use explosives to divert life-ending asteroids heading toward Earth. The asteroid pair selected is one that did not previously nor continues to be a threat to Earth. The mission was beyond successful through impacting a refrigerator-sized explosive on one asteroid orbiting around a larger one.
OSIRIS-REx
The 1st manmade object to touch & land on a moving asteroid, which collected rock samples to return to Earth learn about the formation of the Solar System. The impact and thrust of the probe on the Bennu asteroid revealed major understandings of the composition of asteroids and the amount of gravity they posses.
