The Cheatham-White Scholarship
Cheatham-White Scholarship
The Cheatham-White Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program for students attending North Carolina Central University and N. C. Agricultural and Technical State University . The scholarship covers full tuition and fees, housing, meals, textbooks, a laptop, travel, and personal expenses. Each scholarship also provides four summers of fully funded enrichment and networking opportunities that may include international travel and study. Applicants do not have to be residents of North Carolina.

Eligibility
To be eligible for nomination as a potential Cheatham-White Scholarship candidate, a student must:
Be a competitive applicant for admission as a freshman in the fall semester into a baccalaureate program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University or North Carolina Central University (in-state and out-of-state students are both eligible)
Be a United States citizen or permanent resident
Be on course to graduate from high school in the spring semester prior to college admission
Minimum 4.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale cumulative GPA
Minimum 1280 (new)/ 1200 (old) SAT or 28 ACT
Show exceptional qualities of character and leadership
Be significantly involved in extracurricular activities
Demonstrate a strong commitment to service
Candidates for Cheatham-White Scholarships shall be selected on the basis of academic merit, honorable character, outstanding leadership potential, and a demonstrable commitment to service. Financial need shall not be a consideration.
Yearly renewal of the scholarship requires:
Maintenance of a 3.5 cumulative GPA annually
Full-time enrollment each semester
A minimum of 30 earned credit hours each academic year
Membership and active participation in the University Honors Program

To begin the process, a student must be nominated by a high school administrator (principal, vice-principal, or guidance counselor); alternatively, they may self-nominate. A student is unable to complete an application for the Cheatham-White Scholarship until the nomination process has been completed.
High school administrators can submit nominations the Cheatham-White Scholarship Nomination Form. Students may self-nominate in their Eagle Promise Portal after submitting an application for undergraduate admission.
Nominations for the 2027–2028 year will open on August 15, 2026.
Students must be fully admitted to North Carolina Central University by the Cheatham-White application deadline in order to be considered for this scholarship.
Nominations must be completed by November 1.
Nominations for the 2027–2028 year will open on August 15, 2026.

Submitting an Application
After a nomination has been received and reviewed, the student will be provided access to the Cheatham-White Application. Students should complete the application in full, attach all supporting documents, and submit it no later than November 15.

Applicants should complete an application through the Honors College Application Portal for consideration and review the important dates calendar.
Jefferson Scholars Program
Covers entire cost of attendance for four years at UVA (i.e. tuition, books, fees, supplies, room, board, and personal expenses).
In 2024-2025, out-of-state Jefferson Scholars will receive annual stipend of over $78,000
Also, includes extensive enrichment program for scholar participants.
School nominates 1-2 students based on criteria
Criteria: Ideals of Leadership, Scholarship, & Citizenship
Neither financial need nor prior interest in the University of VA. Nomination process entirely separate from the admissions process. The counselor and the student nominated are to apply by December 1st at the latest.
How to Apply:
No one can directly apply, students must be nominated by school.
The nomination process is ENTIRELY SEPARATE from the admissions process. Look at the MP Scholarship Spreadsheet for specific information.
Counselor and Nominee materials is due: December 1st.
Nominated students may not apply to a binding early decision at another University or College
Once nominated, a student is under no obligation to accept a Jefferson scholarship should he/she be offered one at the end of the competition process. By accepting the school’s nomination he/she is ONLY agreeing to participate in the competition.

The Park Scholarship
40 Students are selected each year. Covers entire cost of attendance for four years at NCSU (i.e. tuition, books/fees, supplies, room, board, personal expenses, $2,000 computer stipend, travel, grants, early course registration, guaranteed invitation to join University Honors Program for all Park Scholarship finalists). Overall award for over $124,000.
Criteria: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character
Have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.8
Be a United States citizen, permanent resident of the U.S. or graduating from a high school located in the U.S. (regardless of citizenship status).
Apply for fall, first-year admission into a baccalaureate program at NC State.
Not open to transfer students.
Park Selection Committee evaluate candidates on the four selection criteria at every stage of the selection process. The committee considers demonstrated achievement as well as evidence of future potential. While it is unusual for one student to excel within all four areas, it is important that candidates show evidence of potential in all four areas.
How to Apply:
The Park Scholarship application is online and is part of the NC State Undergraduate Admissions application. Park Scholarships candidates must provide two essays, names of two recommenders, one official transcript, and information about AP or IB courses.
All candidates must be United States citizens and must matriculate into a baccalaureate program in the fall semester as a first-year student.
All required materials (Park Application and NCSU Application) from candidates are due November 1st

The Morehead Cain Scholarship
First merit based scholarship program established in the US. Covers entire cost of attendance for four years at UNC (i.e. tuition, books/fees, laptop, supplies, room, board, and personal expenses).
Morehead Cain Scholars will receive a four year award of over $120,000.
Also, includes extensive four year summer enrichment program for scholar participants.
Criteria: Moral Force of Character, Scholarship, Physical Vigor, & Leadership
Morehead-Cain is conferred solely on the basis of merit. Financial need is not considered in the selection of Morehead-Cain scholars.
How to Apply:
Students will self-nominate for this scholarship.
The application deadline is October 1st.
Please Note
Admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a separate process from application for the Morehead-Cain. All forms and correspondence dealing with admission to Carolina should go directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The final deadline to apply to Carolina is October 15.

The Belk Scholarship
Davidson's Belk Scholars are energetic, adventurous, studious, artistic, athletic, creative, collaborative, engaged, and compassionate. Primarily, though, each one is an individual, with scholarship applications that reflect a varied and sometimes surprising range of experience, interest, talent, and achievement.
8 Belk Scholarships are awarded annually. Covers entire cost of attendance for four years at Davidson (i.e. tuition, books, fees, supplies, room, board, and personal expenses). GPA 3.82
Davidson Scholars will receive annual scholarship of over $53,000 ($212,000 over 4 years)
Also, includes two specialty study stipends of $3,000 apiece.
School nominates 1-2 students based on criteria. Davidson admission staff may nominate candidates.
Criteria: Scholarship, Leadership, & Individual Talents.

Nomination and Selection Process
School counselors, heads of school, or principals may nominate one or two candidates from each school.
The Davidson Admission Staff may also nominate candidates based on the strength of the students' applications for admission.

The Levine Scholarship
The Levine Scholarship
20 Levine Scholarships are awarded annually. Covers entire cost of attendance for four years at UNCC (i.e. tuition, books, fees, supplies, room, board, and personal expenses).
Levine Scholars will receive a combined award of over $124,000
Also, includes extensive summer enrichment programs for scholar participants.
Schools have unlimited nominations based on the following criteria:
Scholarship, Ethical Leadership, & Civic Engagement.
US Citizen or permanent resident. Must be applicants for enrollment at UNCC in baccalaureate program for fall term immediately following high school graduation.
Successful candidates will likely have: 3.8-4.00 (unweighted GPA) and 1800-2400 (SAT) or 29-36 (ACT)
How to Apply:
Nomination: Students must be nominated online by their school counselor or self-nomination. No limitations to nominations. Nominations will be accepted until October 15.
Application for Admission: Students should login and create their Future 49er Web account to access the freshman online admissions application. Complete and submit the online application. Applications and application materials (transcript and test scores) must be postmarked by November 1.
Completion of a Levine Supplemental Scholarship Application: Once students have been nominated, they will receive an email directing them to the Levine Scholars Portal where they will find the supplemental scholarship application and essay questions. Students should complete Section A of the application immediately so that emails can be sent to those individuals who will be writing letters of recommendation (2). The entire supplemental application must be completed and submitted online by November 15.
