SENIOR MEETING REVIEW
APPLICATION INFORMATION
GRADES: Colleges look at your entire high school transcript, so it's important to finish strong! If you're struggling, please take advantage of MPHS tutoring, talk to your teacher, and come see me. I can always help you with a plan.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is crucial! While colleges can't see your attendance, it's important that you don't exceed 10 absences. If you plan to visit colleges during the school day, please see attendance in the front office for an Educational Opportunity Form.
TRANSCRIPT: During your senior and junior meeting, your counselor and you will discussed your transcript and remaining graduation requirements. Seniors will not be permitted to make changes to their schedule once transcripts are sent. Any changes you make to your schedule will be reflected on your transcript. Your transcript is a legal document, so these changes MUST be approved by the colleges on your application list BEFORE making a change.
UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT: Some schools request an unofficial transcript. You now have access to your transcript and do not need to ask us for one. Go to documents on your IC and click unofficial transcript.
CPCC TRANSCRIPTS: While the courses you take at CPCC will be on your CMS transcript, colleges will still request your official CPCC transcript. Once you register for CPCC classes in October, you will send your CPCC Transcript to the colleges you applied online (Click Here).
RANK/GPA: Official rank and GPA are not run until after the 15th day of school. This is a CMS policy. We cannot push up this date.
UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT: Some schools request an unofficial transcript. You now have access to your transcript and do not need to ask us for one. Go to documents on your IC and click unofficial transcript.
INCIDENTS: If you have an incident or behavior infraction listed in IC, your counselor will discussed how you should report this to colleges. Remember, honesty is the best policy!
THE COMMON APP VS. NAVIANCE :You will use The Common App to submit your college applications. Counselors do NOT have access to The Common App. You will use Naviance to request teacher recommendations, transcripts, school profile's, etc. Counselors DO have access to Naviance. When you "match" The Common App and Naviance, your counselor can see where you're applying, each deadline, and what you're missing. You MUST match them so your counselor can send colleges what they need. To "match," you must sign the FERPA on The Common App. Then, press the red "Match" button under "My Colleges" in Naviance. This is super important! See the instructional video above.
NAVIANCE: Please remember to go back and input into Naviance if you were accepted or denied for the colleges you are applying to. This is helpful data!
TEST SCORES: It is YOUR responsibility to submit your ACT and/or SAT scores. For information on sending your SAT scores, visit this website. For the ACT, see this website.
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: If your colleges require teacher recommendations, please request these through Naviance. It's YOUR responsibility to follow-up with your teachers about completing them. If you need a Counselor Recommendation, you MUST complete this Brag Sheet or resume and email it to your counselor.
CPCC/DUAL ENROLLMENT SPECIFIC INFORMATION: If you are taking CPCC courses it is important to note the following. Unfortunately, spring classes will only be on your final transcript and CPCC transcript for college applications. Advising for spring will happen 2-4 weeks after a student reapplies for spring if you request a worksheet on the application.
Your Common App has a space to explain anything in more detail to a college. Most students put something like. "I am planning to take _#_ Dual Enrollment AP level classes in the spring. Since registration has not started yet I cannot confirm exact course names. "
Once you register for CPCC classes in October, you will send your CPCC Transcript to the colleges you applied online (Click Here).

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS: KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
Early Action: Plans are non-binding - students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the reply date. CPCC: You can apply to CPCC here: CPCC application. They have some great programs such as the CPCC Guaranteed Admissions.
DIRECTION ADMISSIONS: North Carolina now has a program that you will be automatically admitted to schools. For more information visit the website. You must log into your CFNC account to review where you were accepted. Your must accept their offer by JANUARY
